Our Second Chance Checking account does just what the name implies, it offers you a second chance to have a checking account when you have been denied for a checking account elsewhere. To open a checking account we verify your checking account history using a nationwide reporting service called TeleCheck. If you’ve had a checking account closed while you still owe money most likely you have been reported to TeleCheck, or a similar service. In the past, that meant you could not open a checking account with us until you paid any amount you owed to another institution. Now we offer you our Second Chance Checking. This account requires direct deposit and a $10 monthly fee for a minimum of six months. After six months of no negative activity, we cancel the monthly fee and it transfers to our FREE Classic Checking account.

Our Collegiate Checking account is for full time college students between the ages of 18 and 23 with a valid student ID. Taking the first step to becoming a responsible adult is hard and we offer a checking account to help make it a little easier. Our High Yield Checking account is an interest bearing checking account on your average monthly balance of up to $10K. This account offers you the benefits of a checking account without high cost fees some institutions charge. We ask you open the account with an initial $25 deposit.  To earn dividend you must meet the following requirements monthly.

Can I reorder checks online?

Beacon partners with MainStreet to safely and conveniently provide online check reordering. If you have your routing/transit number and account number, you are ready to reorder checks online.

How can I stop a payment?

You may request stop payment for a check that has not cleared your account. A stop payment is good for six months, and a stop payment fee will be charged to your account. To stop payment on a check, contact one of our member service representatives. You cannot put a stop payment on a debit card transaction.

Why was I assessed an ATM fee?

You may be charged a terminal fee by another financial institution when using your Beacon ATM or Debit card at their ATM. Fifth-Third ATM’s can be used with a reduced surcharge of .50 per transaction. To find surcharge free ATM’s please use our ATM locator.

What is an ACH transaction?

Any item that posts to a checking account which was initiated by the member providing their account and routing number electronically. Examples: Insurance Premiums, Cell Phone payments, Utility payments.

How do I dispute an ACH transaction?

How can I get a status update on a dispute previously submitted?

Call 502-366-6022, 502-957-1277, or 502-448-1686 to speak with a member service representative. In most dispute instances you will be contacted by our Compliance Officer to discuss your dispute options and results.

What are transactions appearing in the Pending section of my on-line statement?

Once an authorization has been obtained by a merchant, the amount of the authorization is immediately deducted from the available balance of the checking account.

How do I dispute a fraudulent transaction appearing in the pending section of my on-line statement?

If the transaction is fraudulent, please call 502-366-6022, 502-957-1277, or 502-448-1686 and speak with a member service representative. If you notice the transaction after hours call 1-888-263-3370 to report your card compromised if you did not initiate the transaction. You can respond to instant transaction alerts and turn your card on/off by downloading MyMobileMoney and registering your Beacon CCU debit card.

How long is a transaction in a pending status?

This depends on when the merchant's card processor submits the clearing file. This must happen before the transaction posts to your account. Turnaround time is typically 1-3 business days. An authorization does not necessarily indicate the amount that will be presented for payment nor that a transaction will be presented for payment.
